When you drive Audi, you are sure to get carried away by the thrill of speed it provides.

The car speeds up in no time and can be put on cruise control at a desirable speed on the locations like the highway.

    So far, so good.

The problem may arise when the car is at a speed that is beyond the permissible limit for any given location.

So, is there any way to be ready to change the speed and stay out of trouble that you may invite due to over-speeding?

    The answer is yes!

add speed cameras to Audi Sat Nav

The Audi satellite navigation system, or Sat Nav for short, can be upgraded to alert you about the speed cameras where your car speed can be intercepted by local law enforcement.   Add this feature to your car to allow you to reduce your speed as soon as you come in the speed detection camera’s vicinity.

When you add speed cameras to Audi Sat Nav, you can know about their locations well in advance and make essential decisions on time.

    How easy can it be?

The process of adding speed camera alerts to the Audi SAT NAV has become a little tricky as the brand has recently removed the ability to transfer myAudi special destinations function from the website.

Using our process, you will have alerts for all safety cameras including Red light, speed cameras and  Gatso, right there on your MMI screen.

The process is relatively quick and does not require more than 15 minutes of your time.

The process requires you to download some app like POIBase and integrate it with the SD card.

    Our step by step guide

Here is a step by step guide that will show you how to add speed cameras to Audi Sat Nav:

    1. Download a speed camera database in CSV format by subscribing to services like pocketgpsworld.com
    2. Download PIOBase from POIbase.com – this is special destination tool to load the database on to your MMI (it’s FREE). The POIBase app offers critical route-related information like traffic lights and speed camera locations and formats them into a file type that your Audi MMi will recognise.
    3. The POIBase tool runs a Java app that does the job of transferring the files you need to the SD card that is given in your car SAT NAV system.
    4. You make personalized settings to choose the speed camera alert database by integrating POIBase information with the SD card.
    5. Once done, pop the SD card into your Audi and run a system update, and these changes will be saved.
    6. The update takes about a few seconds.
    7. Now, you choose the map settings. Go to navigation settings. Select the arrival settings and reach myAudi special destinations. And pick the red-light cameras option.
    8. This action portrays all the speed camera locations on the map. When you switch to the virtual cockpit, you can get a more realistic view of the speed cameras installed on the route.
    9. You can either continue going while taking the cues from the virtual cockpit and can turn on the audio or pop-up alerts as and when the cameras come closer or find your vehicle at a detectable distance.
    10. Keep driving safe and hassle-free!
