Lets take a look at a few of the most common black screen issues:
Blank screen after returning to home
After playing a game or returning to the home page from your settings page, you are met with a black screen. This is a common issue, and here is how to fix this issue:
- Hold the power button present on the front of the Xbox to turn it off.
- To turn it on again, press the power button again.

The screen can also turn blank if the Video Output is set to allow 24Hz. Switch off Allow 24Hz:
- Press the Xbox button on your wireless controller to open the guide.
- Click All settings.
- Select Display & Sound.
- Click Video Options.

The black screen may appear when you turn on the console. In that case:
- Check that your TV is connected to the correct input signal (HDMI).

- Holding the power button on the front of the console for 10 sec, perform a cold boot on Xbox One. Turn it on again.
Resetting the display settings
Remove the disc from Xbox One console, if there is any.
- Long press the power button on the Xbox One console to turn it off.

Problems with HDMI Cable
The most common reason by far that Xbox one screen goes black for a second is a faulty HDMI cable.
Try replacing your HDMI cable with another one or try connecting the HDMI cable on a different HDMI port on your TV.

Using an AVR in your setup
If your Xbox One is connected to an audio-video receiver, but still there is no sound, you can fix it by following these steps:
- Switch on the devices in the following order:
- Turn on your television at first.
- When you see a screen display on your TV, turn on the AVR.
- At last, turn on the Xbox One console.
- Reboot the AVR.
- Set your TV connected to HDMI. Follow these steps:
- To open the guide, press the Xbox button.
- Choose Settings.
- Click Display & Sound.
- Select Video Output.
- Click on TV connection.
